Why am I not losing weight?

A lot of you always ask yourself, Why am I not losing weight? I ask myself this very question every time I try to lose the extra pounds I want gone to fit into those skinny jeans again. You try everything possible to lose the weight and sometimes it just doesn’t happen whether you workout constantly, or eat right, etc. Here I am going to tell you the top reasons as to why you or your friend is not losing weight.

The scale is wrong

You might be one of those people that checks their weight every single day, just to see that it hasn’t budged. Weight and the scale don’t determine the weight loss. Weight can stay the same even if you are losing fat because it can turn into muscle so don’t be discouraged.

Even when the scale stays the same, your body won’t.

You’re not eating correctly

Everyone when they go on a diet thinks they know what is good to eat and what isn’t. Well even the professionals sometimes get it wrong.

Here are what you could be missing from your daily meals:

  1. Protein
  2. Whole foods
  3. Zero calorie foods
  4. Good fats
  5. Good carbs

All of these foods are crucial to weight loss. You may be eating protein, just not enough. You could be eating fats and carbs, but the ones that turn into extra fat on your body, not the ones that burn fat.

Always research what you want to eat before eating it.

Over eating

It is very important to get your amount of calories in for the day, but sometimes we may go overboard. You want to make sure to keep track of the calories you eat during the day. They have apps you can get on your phone that will track it for you, super easy.

It is hard to not over eat because you could feel that you are not eating enough, but if you eat the right foods they will make you feel full faster and longer, such as whole foods.

Always be careful that even if you are eating healthy foods, that you don’t eat too much of these because they can even put on the extra weight if you binge.

Put down the juices and soda

Giving up sugar is one of the hardest things to do. Sugar is an ingredient that always makes people want to come back for more. It is almost addictive in a way.

Give it up. Sugars are in sodas, juices, even some diet waters. Sugar in these drinks are so high in percentage that they are actually making you gain weight. These drinks are making it harder for you to lose weight. I recommend green teas of all flavors, or fruit water that you make at home.

You’re not sleeping enough

Getting enough sleep is so important if you want to lose weight. Sleep gives us the energy to go about our next day. Sleep is good for our overall mental and physical help.

An average person is supposed to get 6-8 hours of sleep, 8 suggested. When you do not fulfill these hours, it will make it harder to achieve your goals. Lack of sleep is actually one of the top factors towards obesity, so make sure to get your Z’s in!

Your goals are unrealistic

Almost everyone that starts a weight loss journey wants to lose all their weight super fast. It doesn’t happen that way and when they don’t people give up. You have to know that things like this don’t happen overnight.

You have to set a realistic goal for yourself such as I want to lose 8-10 this month. This is a very realistic goal and if you follow a healthy food plan and exercise regularly it is actually very easy to hit this goal.

Don’t make a plan that is losing 20 pounds in 2 weeks. Yes, diet plans and pills might offer that to you but that is not healthy. It will actually cause you to gain weight faster in the future. Take your time and results will come.
